Our philosophy is to provide a positive, happy, safe, and productive learning environment for children of all developmental levels. Through a wide range of activities the children are given opportunities to problem solve by making choices and decisions for themselves which promotes a healthy self-esteem.
We believe that children learn by experience; it is our responsibility to guide them through a variety of child appropriate activities designed to expand feelings of confidence and success. We model positive social values with an emphasis placed on building life skills, which allow children to be responsible for their choices and actions. We treat each child as an individual with his or her own unique needs and abilities.
Our child care program tries to promote the inclusion of all people and recognize the diversity of age, culture, religion, socio-economic status, sexual orientation and abilities in our community.
Renfrew Preschool is licensed under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and Child Care Licensing Regulation. The preschool complies by all rules and requirements set out by the Act and Regulation.
Guiding & Caring
We strive to create a happy, caring environment where there is a healthy respect for the rights of others and their property, while acknowledging the rights and feelings of each individual. We encourage the children to talk through their own problems and conflicts, and to make appropriate choices and compromises. However, if a child seems unable to cope in a situation, the staff will redirect that child to a new play area, or ask the individual to sit out until he or she can behave appropriately or provide them with a logical or reasonable consequence for the inappropriate behaviour. Consistency between the home and the Centre is very important in this area. Please feel free to discuss concerns and questions with the teachers .
The Preschool Teachers are trained and certified as Early Childhood Educators. They meet all the requirements outlined in the Child Care Licensing Act and maintain a valid First Aid Certificate and a successful completion of a criminal record check.
Staff at the preschool will be utilizing up to two (2) professional days each year to ensure that they remain current with recent developments in the E.C.E. field
Newsletter & Notices
A calendar is distributed to each child monthly, which includes a calendar of monthly events and important information. You will also receive notices from time to time regarding special events and fieldtrips. Every notice sent home is important, please make sure that you read all newsletters and notices or have them translated for you.
Fees are to be made by Visa or Mastercard. Reciepts will be handed out monthly by the preschool insructor. For any duplicate reciepts there will be a $1 charge per receipt, please keep your original receipts for all purposes. The June preschool fees will be processed on the day you register along with a $20 non-refundable registration fee.
If you need to cancel out of our preschool program, a written notice must be given to the Preschool teachers one (1) month from the last day of the previous monthprior to leaving. If the Preschool teachers are not informed, the June preschool fee (paid the day you registered) will not be refunded. Cancellation forms are available from the preschool teachers. As the Preschool program is budgeted on a 10-month school year, parents/guardians will not be able to withdraw their child after April 1st. Your June fee will NOT be refunded.
Our program develops independence, self-help skills, co-operation and positive social interactions.
We believe that each day is a learning experience for the child. Our daily schedule consists of both structured and non-structured activities, preparing each child to become confident and ready for entry into the elementary school system.
